How to sue VHT Night Shades to tint your car lights.
One of the easiest and cheapest modifications you can do on your auto is to tint your lights. This involves tinting your headlights, tail lights, and side markers. I have even tinted the rear reflectors on a Chevy HHR. The results are awesome, and will help the car to stand out in a crowd.
First off, many places do not allow you to tint your headlights. This is for your safety, and the safety of others. It is strictly up to you if you want your headlights to be tinted, and it is up to you to take full responsibilty for tinting the lights on your automobile. Now with that out of the way, I will show a few of the steps that it will take to tint your lights.
For your tail lights, and side markers, the same process is used for them. Depending on how complicated the design of the lights are, you will want to transfer them from your car, though this is not totally neccessary. I have used VHT Night Shades as the tint, and have tinted these while they were on the auto. You will want to use an alcohol based, or other type of remover to wipe down the lenses. This removes wax, and any foreign rubble that may be on the lights. Your lenses need to be clean for the VHT nightshades to adhere.
If tinting the lights while on the vehicle, you will want to mask off a large area around your lights. This is so that you do not get overspray from the tinting process on your autos paint. Once masked off and the lights have been cleaned, You can start the process. Lightly spray the VHT Night Shades across the light in a smooth motion, making sure that it is a light coat. Give the lights almost 20 minutes of drying time between coats. For side marker lights and tail lenses, I would feel safe with 2-3 light coats. Any more than this and you may make the lens too dark for light to shine through. Take time and take care in prepping and applying, and you will get great results.
Let the Night Shades sit for 24 hours. The next day, you can either clear coat the lenses with 3 very light coats of spray clear coat, or wet sand the lenses to remove any orange peel, and then clear coat the lights with 3 very light coats of clear coat. The clear coat will help to seal the night shades and also prevent the night shades from chipping or fading. Once accomplished, cautiously remove the masking from around your lights, and you’ll now have some sweet tinted tail and marker lights.
Headlights use the exact same process, however the only adjustment I would suggest would be to use 1-2 light coats of VHT only. You do not want to apply more than 2 coats as it will be way too dark on your headlights, and you’ll be begging for a ticket. Not only that, but it would be dangerous for you to drive with too dark tinted headlights at night.
Follow these procedures, and your car will look like no other, thanks to VHT Night Shades and a few hours of your time!
